Our Mission
The primary mission of the Southeastern Fracture Consortium is to promote the enhancement of orthopaedic trauma care through quality education and research. We strive to provide a forum and platform for orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, nurses, physician assistants, advanced practice providers, and research teams. We aim to create an open and inclusive environment, and welcome the expertise from other practitioners, allied health, and care team members involved in all areas of patient care for orthopaedic trauma to join us to improve their knowledge and skills, exchange ideas, and collaborate on research initiatives.
Education Cornerstone: Annual Conference
SEFC organizes an annual symposium, the Southeastern Fracture Symposium (SEFS), that focuses on the care of orthopaedic trauma patients. Originally designed for orthopaedic resident education, the scope of the symposium has expanded to include non-trauma orthopaedic surgeons, community orthopaedists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals involved in orthopaedic trauma care. SEFS is held every January or February in a different location throughout the southeast and features distinguished orthopaedic traumatologists as instructors, including past presidents of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, AAOS, and the AO Foundation. We strive to provide valuable resources and opportunities for the entire orthopaedic trauma community, fostering collaboration and advancing patient care. The annual symposium is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This event is designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.
This conference is designed to provide a comprehensive update on best practices and techniques for orthopedic fracture care, treatment, and management. Leaders in orthopedic trauma share their expertise and challenging cases as individual speakers and in panel debates. Small group settings will allow for direct interaction with the speakers, and ample time will be provided for questions and answers at each session.
Resources, Support, and Educational Content
SEFC strives to provide the resources, support, and education to enable physicians to make changes to their practices and drive improvement in patient care and outcomes.

To empower connections and knowledge, SEFC is creating and maintaining a year-round resource hub packed with educational materials, captivating videos, cutting-edge research programs, and inclusive forums for posing questions and discussing unique cases. Our platform creates a safe space for members to connect, network, and gain unparalleled support. Unlock the power of collaboration, expand your knowledge, and thrive together in a vibrant community.
Education Focus: Annual Learning Objectives
Objectives for the annual symposium include:
-
Discussion on strategies for successful fracture treatment by integrating ideas from current medical evidence and from demonstration and discussion with faculty experts.
