INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the annual meeting of the Southeastern Fracture Symposium jointly sponsored by the Southeastern Fracture Consortium Foundation, the Wake Forest University School of Medicine The conference chairs represent Wake Forest University, Duke University, University of Virginia and Southeastern Fracture Consortium Foundation welcomes new orthopaedic individual memberships as well as institutional memberships. The research consortium group is well recognized for its research endeavors through national conference presentations and publications.

Our target audience will include orthopaedists, researchers, research associates, fellows, residents, PAs/FNPs, nurses and OR techs.

At the conclusion of this course, the participant should be better able to:

  • Discuss diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal trauma injuries.
  • Explain the rationale for use of the instruments and implants for operative treatment of fractures.

Nurses can attend any session. These objectives apply to all sessions intended for nurses.

At the conclusion of this symposium the learner should be better able to:

  • Define the role of the nurse and the principles of trauma nursing care involved in serving the multiply injured patient.
  • Discuss the principles and practices of orthopaedic research studies, valid hypotheses and outcomes.
  • Explain the rationale for the use of specialized and specific instruments and implants for operative treatment of fractures.


CREDITS
The Wake Forest University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity is acceptable for CEU’s.

Nurses: This educational activity can be applied towards your continuing competence plan for maintaining your current licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

ACCREDITATION
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Southeastern Fracture Consortium Foundation, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine, Carolinas Medical Center, the University of North Carolina School School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
